The Wave Project is an award winning UK charity that helps vulnerable children and young people improve their health and well-being through a combination of surfing and mentoring. Each year the project works with over 1000 young people through their surf therapy courses and surf club sessions.

Their Surf therapy is a 6-week course that offered to new young surfers referred to them by medical, educational or welfare professionals. The sessions follow a fairly standard structure, which very much feels like a (really brilliant!) surf lesson. During each session they are supported by a volunteer Surf Mentor to help guide and encourage them. They run 6 courses between the months of April – October. Once young people have taken part in Surf Therapy with them, they are invited to join our Surf Club sessions, which take place on a weekly basis. They run our sessions down at Boscombe beach in partnership with Sorted Surf School.

You have the right to be and feel safe. We have a duty of care to all students on campus. Bournemouth & Poole College is committed to embedding Safeguarding across the whole college. The College recognises that all students, particularly children, young people and adults at risk, have a fundamental right to be protected from harm, exploitation and discrimination, and that students cannot learn effectively unless they feel safe.

The College will provide an environment which promotes equality, self-confidence, a feeling of worth, and the knowledge that students’ concerns are listened to and acted upon.
