The Students’ Union are excited to announce our new strategic plan for September 2021 – 2023, which is entitled ‘Our Pathway to Excellence’. We believe that it is important for us to produce a new plan, to represent you and all students that are currently at BPC and to ensure it is relevant throughout YOUR student experience.
We want to make sure that the plan is led by you and reflects your aims and goals for the next two years.

Our Mission
By 2023, BPCSU will be:
A one stop shop for all information, activities and opportunities for student life at the College.
Well known across the College and will be continuing to develop our partnerships with other College departments.
Recognised as an Excellent Students’ Union, that demonstrates outstanding practice to provide our students with the best experience possible.
Continuing to further develop connections and working relationships within the local community.
Embedding sustainability into all aspects of the Student Union’s practice.
Providing a full programme of fun and exciting opportunities for students to get involved with.
Our Aims
Core Aim 1: Communication
The Student First website to be well recognised by students across the College and to have at least 50% of students signed up.
To produce a student-led termly magazine and video to update students on all news and opportunities inside and outside the College.
To have increased awareness of the Student Experience social media pages, to ensure they are a familiar platform for students and staff to receive BPCSU’s latest updates.
To have staff at the College championing student engagement, by informing students about BPCSU’s opportunities and promoting our services.
To have developed consistent branding and for this to be widely recognised across the College and externally, including at College Open Events.
To have a strong working relationship with the Marketing Team at the College, to ensure BPCSU’s work is regularly shared online.
To develop a strong communications plan that will be used for all BPCSU events, to cover online and physical marketing platforms at the College
To have a student-led approach on social media, to include videos, posts and blogs from Student Executives, Influencers and students from across the College.
Core Aim 2: Engagement
To have developed a full programme of activities and at least 4 clubs and societies for students to participate in and gain new skills throughout their time at BPC.
To develop The Hubs to ensure they are kept up-to-date with modern equipment and resources to successfully engage and entertain students.
To have student representation at all BPCSU events, by having Student Executives and Influencers involved in the planning and delivery of the events on campus.
To develop a volunteering programme, to have a good partnership with local organisations to promote volunteering roles and organise activities for students.
To embed Our Voice, Our College into the College, to ensure it’s well recognised by students and staff and an integral part of students’ experience, to give them the best possible opportunities to supply their feedback.
To provide extra sessions on campus with departments at the College and external organisations, to increase students’ life and development skills and prepare them for their next steps.
Core Aim 3: Sustainability
To have a Student Sustainability Group that meet at least once a term, to discuss the College’s sustainability plans and projects.
To ensure that at least one Students’ Union representative is actively participating in the College’s Sustainability Committee.
To develop BPCSU’s green impact agenda, to work towards excellent in the submission.
To ensure all items purchased and sourced by BPCSU are sustainable and environmentally accredited.
To ensure that sustainability is considered in every event and project that the Students’ Union organise, to make sure that it is at the heart of BPCSU’s work and ethos.
To work with the College to help develop their sustainability agenda and ensure BPCSU’s work and mission aligns with this.
To have a programme of educational resources and activities to educate students about sustainability and raise awareness of its importance across the College.
To develop the Green Opportunities campaign in the Students’ Union, to make it an integral part of BPCSU and students’ experience at BPC, to increase education and understanding of sustainability.
To reduce giving away single-use freebies and plastics during BPCSU events and activities.
To monitor BPCSU’s waste and carbon footprint, to continue to find new ways to reduce this.
