Q: Is sleeping a waste of time?

The short, simple answer is no.

Sleeping is not a time where we are simply detached from the waking world around us, it is a time where our body and brain works hard to repair and clear ‘waste’ (chemical produced from the brain during wake). As a result of good sleep we can show up in the world feeling energised, able and in a good mood!

It’s important that you are aware of how sleep affects your health. The consequences of poor quality sleep are vast, although these start at a cellular level, you may have experienced some yourself; brain fog, feeling grumpy or sad, feeling stressed, becoming ill more easily, and being irritable with friends, peers and family are a few many people say they experience when not getting quality sleep…

You may have noticed that your lifestyle is impacting on your sleep and this may be affecting your studies and how you feel at college. If you have noticed this, then well done!  That means that you are already on the way to changing behaviours and creating new ones that support you in feeling healthy and well!

We have provided you with some documents to help you with the initial steps in getting going with improving your sleep!
